Sidewalk Chalk Experience

Sidewalk Chalk Experience

Despite the super cool rock band title, the Sidewalk Chalk Experience was not a rock band (but it should be). It was a collaborative project between me and several other students that took place over the course of three days. We had to design a team flag using symbols and colors that represented us.

day one

On the first day my team and I were paired up. We were a mess, and really got nothing done. We learned about the symbolic meanings of colors, and brainstormed ideas for our personal signs. My group and I decided almost immediately that we would do an ombré effect with our colors, seeing as none of us could choose just one. But none of us could really decide our symbols.

day two

The second day was layout day. We all finalized our symbols: a bird, a torch, a quill and ink, a cross, and a film reel. We finally sketched them out on paper and decided what shape we were going to organize them in on our flag.

day three (last)

On the last day we all went outside to design our flags on the sidewalk. It rained and the sidewalk was wet but we almost finished it. We never actually finished because we're bad at time management. But it was super fun, and i learned some stuff about teamwork.
